The cars involved in the Fun Cup are built to a single specification. The Beetle-style bodies sit on a
tubular steel chassis powered by an 1800cc, 130bhp VW/Audi engine - mid-mounted for optimum balance.
They're quick too - weighing only 760kg, they have a superb power to weight ratio. Above all, safety
is vitally important. That's why each car comes with an oversized roll cage, a 5 point driver's
harness, a petrol tank that complies with standards set by the FIA and Uniroyal RainSport tyres that
provide excellent handling, especially in the wet.
The cars are designed and built by Dubois Racing in Belgium, with accent on low cost and reliability.
The bodywork is manufactured from Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) and sectional panels for ease of repair,
including front spoiler and rear wing, for extra down-force and stability. Suspension can be adjusted
for camber, toe-in / toe-out. Many of the suspension parts are from production cars to keep down costs.
Brakes are race derived for great efficiency and long life.
The whole of the rear section from the B-pillar backwards, hinges backwards allowing fast access to the
engine compartment. The remaining panels are mounted to the chassis with snap-lock fasteners. The exception
is the front spoiler, which is held in place with several screw fasteners.
The Chassis is constructed with tubular steel and the seat is located centrally within the car, providing
excellent central weight distribution. The engine is housed just behind the driver's seat. The fuel tank
is positioned behind the front axel, with access for refuelling via a hole on top of the bonnet.
Teams refuel their own car, using special approved dry-break dump cans and sealed couplings for maximum safety.
In short... virtually no modifications are allowed, making for ultra-close racing.
