The stage is set for a super competitive round, with many of the teams now having converted to a petrol sequential car over the winter.

It is also great to welcome multiple British Kart Champion, Stuart Ziemelis into the championship. Ziemelis will be racing in the 248 CCS Media petrol sequential car, with Alan Honarmand and Ciro Carannante.

Snetterton 12 Hour "Day Into Night" Round Added To Calendar

Fun Cup is delighted to inform teams that we have added a "day into night" 12 hour (non-championship) round to the 2012 calendar. The event will take place on the 9th and 10th November and we will be sharing the circuit with the Mazda championship. This means that we can only accept the first 22 Fun Cup entries. After this, all entries will be placed on a reserve list. Depending on the amount of Mazda's racing, circumstances may change, which will allow a greater number of Fun Cup starters.

Fun Cup entries will be allocated to the first 23 teams to complete the form at the link http://www.funcup.co.uk/entry-forms/team-entry-form/. Upon completion of the entry, we also require a £300 non-refundable deposit to secure your place.

Please email roxie@funcup.co.uk if you have any questions.

Fun Cup Kart Race Raises More Money For Claire House

Nineteen Fun Cup teams and over sixty drivers entered the Fun Cup Karting Challenge on the 3rd March, in aid of Claire House Children's Hospice. Once again, the Fun Cup teams showed fantastic generosity and commitment for Claire House, a charity close to everyone's hearts. The final total raised was around £4,000, taking the grand total raised for Claire House by Fun Cup teams, to a staggering near £33,000. This is simply incredible and thank you to everyone who contributed.

The teams were greeted with torrential rain and snow on arrival at Thruxton and the whole event looked under threat, but in true Fun Cup style, nothing was going to stop the day's racing.

Qualifying started at 2pm, as drivers from many Fun Cup teams hit the soaking Thruxton circuit. Pole position was hotly contested and six different teams held the lead at different times. Eco Racing looked favourites, as they held a clear advantage in the wet conditions. Things rapidly started to dry and a last minute frenzy saw Eco secure a last lap pole position, from the JPR team.

The race started cleanly and the pace at the front was electric. Eco Racing was the early leader, driven by Paul Abraham, Charlie Burt and Lee Rabjohn, but they suffered a delay in the fuel stop, handing the lead to Team Racelogic, which consisted of Nigel Greensall and Julian Thomas. Cuisine de France and Indigo Racing were also in contention for a podium, with consistent pace throughout.

With light fading fast, the final fight for the win was between Racelogic and the resurgent Eco team. After two and a half hours, only seventeen seconds separated the leading Greensall in Team Racelogic and Abraham, in the Eco Racing kart. They traded fastest laps right to the death. But, in the end, it was Racelogic, who not only took the victory from Eco Racing, but sealed it with fastest lap as well.

Meanwhile, in the JPR kart, Adrian Duggleby guided them safely through the first stint and after a clean pit stop, Alan Brown took over. Despite putting in strong consistent laps, he was unfortunate to have to take some strong dramatic avoiding action when a fellow competitor spun in front of him, resulting in a trip up the banking and a loss of around forty seconds.

Rory Brown was in the kart third and put in some truly stellar laps. He was always the fastest person on track for the full stint, consistently lowering his own lap records as the track continued to dry.

Damian Hudes took over with the team lying in fourth and the majority of fight back through the field having already been carried out by Rory Brown. They picked off the team in front of them through the pit stop and were free to have an entire stint long battle with Rabjohn from Eco Racing, albeit, one lap down.

Eventually, the JPR team took the final step of the podium.

The team at Thruxton informed the racers that it was by far the highest calibre of drivers they had seen, which is a testament to the level of driving standards in the Fun Cup championship.

Thank you to Bill Coombs and the team at Thruxton for allowing the event to happen, and for providing some excellent karts, along with the immaculate facilities. Thanks also to Chris Hartley for braving the weather to capture some memorable footage of the event.
